“Live your life so that fear of death can never enter your heart.  When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the morning light.  Give thanks for your life and strength.  Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living.  And if perchance you see no reason for giving thanks, rest assured the fault is in your self.” – Chief Tecumseh, Shawnee Indian Chief

“Everything on the earth has a purpose, every disease an herb to cure it, every person a mission.” – Mourning Dove Salish

I have the privilege of traveling from Sun Valley, Idaho to Sedona, Arizona, in order to be part of the magical expotition that takes place at the Southwest Inn at Sedona.  On a recent trip home, as I was crossing over the Grand Canyon, near Lees Ferry, I saw a weather worn, older Navajo woman who needed a ride to the next town.  I picked her up, and she sat in my car for 25 minutes without uttering a single word, however she often gazed down at a bottle of wine, which I had purchased at a local Sedona Winnery.  Finally, I stated that I had got the bottle of wine, for my wife.  The old woman humphed, then re-crossed her arms, and finally stated, “Good Trade!”–From Craig Phelan, Proud Innkeeper of the Southwest Inn at Sedona

“Grown men can learn from very little children for the hearts of the little children are pure.  Therefore, the great spirit may show to them many things which older people miss.” – Black Elk, Oglala Sioux Holy Man

“My partner and I stayed one night in Sedona in route to the Grand Canyon.  We enjoyed the stay and found this roadside Inn the perfect scale, character and architecture to begin our Arizona adventure.  The Inn is modern, yet vaguely retro.  It is well landscaped, lighted and the folks at the desk are very friendly.  The balcony provides a great place to start the day overlooking the area’s red rocks.  If you like health food – a great option is literally across the street.  Ask front desk for the name.  We plan to return, as the area is beautiful and right at the entrance to Oak Creek Canyon…a good location for exploring the trails and natural beauty of the area.  To summarize, Sedona’s Southwest Inn isn’t overdone.  It is what it is and captures the spirit of this special place.” – Will Herbig, April, 2008
