And what better way to end a day in Sedona than with a sunset tour, or a Cowboy Cookout. Sedona’s dramatic western canyons and rock formations are known throughout the world, and every day we see photographers just burn through film. Just tell the guide what your interest are—natural history, Indian and pioneer history, geology, etc.—and they’ll talk your ear off. Canyon Cruise We’ll do the driving; you take in the views, on what USA Today called “The most scenic drive in North America.” This journey up Oak Creek Canyon (on pavement) will amaze you. On the way your driver will point out well-known landmarks like: Midgley Bridge, Wilson Canyon, Pumphouse Wash, and Slide Rock. As well as the location of Indian Gardens, the location of the first settler home, and other pioneer spots of interest. Duration: 1 ½ hours Cost: Adults $45 / Kids $35 Pioneer Trail Move back in time on a tour of the Pioneer Trail. This casual tour explores the route taken to Flagstaff by the town’s first settlers. On the way your guide will tell you about the various movies that were filmed in the area; and even show a cave that was featured in a few. Your ride will take you over 1,500 feet above Sedona. This dirt road, right among the red rocks, is in good condition, so relax and enjoy the breathtaking views. Duration: 1 ½ hours Cost: Adults $45 / Kids $35 Mogollon Rim Move back in time as you explore the route taken to Flagstaff by the town’s first settlers. On the way, marvel at the incredible rock formations, vortexes, and some of the most bizarre sandstone in the area. Then continue up until you are 2,500 feet above Sedona—7,000 ft. in elevation. At the top look down at the entire Verde Valley, before exploring the Ponderosa Pine forests. If you are lucky you might spot Elk or Mule Deer. Duration: 2 hours Cost: Adults $55 / Kids $40 Red Rock West Take a drive into the shadow of Thunder Mountain. This tour slips around behind the mountain; then continues on into the Secret Canyon Wilderness Area. This is a place of stories; a place where pioneers were chased by grizzlies and Native Americans went in search of the last waterholes. The terrain is a mix of high desert and washes, filled with cacti, wildflowers, snakes, and rabbits. If you are lucky you may spot a mule deer or Javelina as well. Duration: 2 hours Cost: Adults $55 / Kids $40 Diamondback Combine panoramic views of the red rocks with a rugged 4 x 4 trail. Packed with more of a punch than the Red Rock West, you’ll want to have your seatbelt on tight. This is a great trail for seeing critters, as well as desert plants and other wildlife. The Western Canyons were also used for numerous movies so the area might seem familiar to you. Duration: 2 hours Cost: Adults $60 / Kids $45 The Outlaw This is your chance to be an outlaw—from Robber’s Roost to the Shaman’s Cave, this rugged trail has it all. Explore the land that the Sinaguans and Apache called their home. See the canyons where many of the old western movies were filmed. With unobstructed western views, this trail is perfect for sunsets. Duration: 3 hours Cost: Adults $75 / Kids $60 Lost Canyon This is our best 4 x 4 trail, filled with woop-d-dos and good climbing sections. The kids will love it! The drive to the trailhead alone is breathtaking as you pass Bell Rock, Cathedral, and Courthouse Butte. Once on the trail, get ready for some rugged 4 x 4 adventure and simply awesome views. Duration: 2 hours Cost: Adults $60 / Kids $45 Vortex Tours What exactly is a Vortex? Well, that’s probably the most commonly asked question in Sedona. Come with one of our guides to the Cowpie Vortex, located in Bear Wallow Canyon, to experience it for your self. This two hour tour explores one of the most scenic areas in Sedona. It also allows you to leave the Jeep behind and take an easy walk into one of these much-talked-about energy spots. Duration: 2 hours Cost: Adults $60 / Kids $45 Jeep / Winery Combination Combine a Jeep tour with a visit to a winery on Oak Creek. Here you can relax by the cool water as you sample some of the unique wines this area is becoming known for. Then head off into the western canyons for a first-hand account of our beautiful high desert. The noon departure allows you the option (for a small fee) to stay an extra 45 minutes at the winery and have lunch. The 3:00 pm departure is timed to catch the sunset on the return journey. (Must be 21 with a picture I.D.) Note: If you are not interested in a private tour, but only have two in your party, we will be happy to help add people to your tour.
